Putts going up hill needed to be hammered. While those going down hill required a light touch. This slowness of the greens was very hard for me to adopt to.

Spectacular views from elevated tee boxes made the Back 9 an enjoyable experience. The Back 9 would make me want to come back and play this course again. Lots of wild deer and turkeys on the course too - made it interesting.

Unless you are a single digit, play the white tees. If you move back, you will ruin a potentially perfect day. Every hole is different and all the challenge you can handle. Do not be fooled by the short yardage. There is not a straight shot on the course. If it isn't bending right or left, it's going up or down.

Nice setting, course improved from past, but still overpriced vs. value given other options in the area. Jack

Great layout with the front nine running flat along the Carmel River and some lakes and trees. The back nine climbs up steeply and provides great views of Carmel Valley in both directions and holes 10 through 14 are great holes running between the native oaks. Was a bit surprised that the course is only 6100 yards from the back tees but soft fairways and cooler air do make the course play longer. Would like to have seen a marshall as one foursome two groups ahead of us was very slow and hit lots of mulligans. However, a great course and nice staff.
