Seal Beach Navy Golf Course is a Military, 27 hole golf course located in Cypress, California. The facility has an 18-hole course, The Destroyer and a nine hole executive course, The Cruiser. The course allows public play.
Seal Beach Navy Golf Course first opened for play in 1966. The Destroyer course was designed by Joe Williams.
The 18-hole championship Destroyer Course is a 6,780-yard challenge for even the most seasoned golfer, while the 9-hole executive Cruiser Course offers an ideal setting for a leisurely round with family and friends.
Destroyer Course
The Cruiser Course is a championship eighteen hole course. The terrain is flat and easy to walk.
The Destroyer Course is very challenging. It has fourteen water hazards, including a large pond that must be carried on hole #9, a 184-yard, par-3. The fairways range from narrow to wide, and the greens are large and fast.

I have been playing my home course, the Seal Beach Navy Golf Course often since 1985 and weekly on Fridays since 2006. The course is immaculate. The Tees are excellent. The Fairways are excellent. The Greens are exceptional. The only complaint in the last couple of years is that the water hazards have been lowered to drain water from them for time to time to add water to another nearby water hazard because of the draught conditions that Southern California has been suffering. Until 2006, only military golfers and their guests were allowed to play the Seal Beach NGC. It was opened to the Public at that time which has made it less exclusive but has added revenue form the additional players from the public golfers. I play early in the morning to beat the rush. The GPS has been recently removed from the 200 electric golf carts which have all just been newly replaced. The 9 Hole Cruiser Course is alos in great shape for the older golfer who still likes to walk the course. LCDR Dal Trader USN (Ret)

Course is definitely challenging as there are many doglegs and water on several holes. Wind picks up in the afternnoon which can add to the difficulty. Fairways a mediocre, greens are good. Great value for the money.

This is a very good value for this area. Good layout , greens can get lightning fast .You will use just about every club in the bag here.We will continue to come back here to play. One negative is that the Clubhouse/bar closes well before sunset.

Played twice in the last two weeks. Both rounds took less than 4 and 1/2 hours. Layout is tough but fair. Kikuya rough makes finding the fairway a must. Greens not too fast but pretty true.

Pace of play was among the worst I have ever seen. When I got to the 7th tee, there were 17 golfer waiting to tee off. They allow 5-somes and I saw several of them holding up everyone else. This was made worse by the fact that they told me the course was wide open when i signed in as a single. I decided to leave, but this was easily shaping up to be a 6+ hour round on a Monday!

I like the course. It is challenging and you can walk it. And the price is reasonable compare to any other golf course around the area.

I was on a business trip and decided to play hooky from the conference, so went to the Navy Course-Destroyer, to play. The Pro welcomed me as I work for another military golf course and the starter put me with a couple of young men and another gentleman closer to my age. I had the best time I have had all year. One of the younger kids was laughing, giggling and generally in a up mood all round and it was contagious. It lead to me pulling off a 35 yard pitch in for a birdie and everyone had a great time. The course was in excellent shape overall with plenty of water hazards and trees. The fairways were ample making the pace of play excellent. I will definitely visit again and hopefully add them to my web site, www.golfcaddyonline.com.
