If you want to play golf in Fairfax, California, you only have one choice. And it's a great choice. You'll have to play at The Meadow Club, it's the only course in Fairfax, California. Of course, you'll have to be a member or a guest as The Meadow Club is a private golf course.
The Meadow Club golf course first opened for play in 1927. The course was designed by Alister MacKenzie. Golf Architect Michael DeVries was in charge of the restoration undertaken from 1998 t0 2005 restoring the course to its original Mackenzie intent.
This 18-hole course was built on mountainous terrain, so you can expect many uneven lies. The fairways are tree lined. The greens have a reputation for being well maintained.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,602 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,923 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 508 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 152 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 7, a 418 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 152 yard par-3.

This may be my favorite place to play in the area. Although the golf course (a great old MacKenzie design) itself may be just a notch or two below some of the more well-known courses in the Bay Area (in terms of difficulty, not layout), the entire experience cannot be beat. The setting is spectacular. As the name would suggest, it is situated in a beautiful mountain meadow, surrounded by watershed. I don't think there is a house visible from the course. The only noise you hear comes from the birds. The clubhouse is fabulous and fits into the landscape perfectly. All in all, just a great place.

Every hole is interesting. Very well maintained.A course that you can play every day and it will always be interesting and challenging, but not fatiguing. This is an old style course and very walkable.
