Mile Square Golf Course was a Public, 36-hole golf facility located in Fountain Valley, California. The facility had two 18-hole golf courses: The Classic Course and The Players Course.
David Rainville designed both courses.
In 2021 the 36 hole facility was reduced to 18 holes so that a park for general recreation use could be developed. The 18 remaining holes are made up primarily of The Classic Course along with several holes from The Players Club.

Course ownership needs to follow PGA priority and speed up pace of play. 5-somes should be taboo. Women's Club should be admonished for slow play on Tuesdays. Rangers must be hired during weekdays.

This is one of the public courses in my community, so it's very convenient. Considering how much it is played every week, it was in pretty good condition. Be sure to try the food in the restaurant/coffee shop. The breakfasts are to die for, and the service and pricing is terrific.

Lay out and pace of play were my biggest complaints.

This course and it's sister course (Mile Square Players) are possibly the best conditioned courses in Orange County. Both courses were designed by David Rainville and therefor are very similar is style and play. They both are well bunkered (and bunkers are well maintained) and the bunkers are strategically placed. The courses have two weaknesses: 1 Fairway bunkers are very punishing. The large mounding does not allow long iron approach shots as the golfer must can only hit a 7 iron or higher to get out. 2 All the par 3’s measure approximately the same yardage and usually require the same club. This is particularly true on the Players course where the par 3 pin location rotations are virtually the same. The greatest draw to these courses is the conditioning. The greens are quick, true and healthy. They are always in great shape.

Enjoy the course, not the pace

Better courses in to play. The lakes have been dry and nothing done for a long time. Used to love this course, but now it is less than medicre. Seems as though budget cutbacks are in play.

Average course, although really flat and not much to get excited about. The greens were in excellent shape, however; pretty fast with subtle undulations that are difficult to read.

The greens are in very good condition, but don't get above the whole. Fairly flat and can be very difficult from the blue tees if the wind is blowing.

In the past few years they have done wonders with the greens. I have played this course for over twenty years and never seen the greens as puttable as they have been the past two years. Cudos to the super! Staff is inconsistant in their ability to provide customer service. Overall, one of my favorite munis in Orange County.

I have been playing this course for years. This is an extremely playable course for all. Even single digits should have a challenge as it is not all that easy from the blues. Sure it is fairly straight and a bit wide, but there are many holes where you can get into trouble. Especially the back nine if the wind is blowing! Three of the last five holes can be quite tough. Bottom line is that this course is VERY fair. If you hit it long you should do well. There are no tricks either. GREAT playing surfaces as the greens are kept up very well also. Please, stop poo-pooing this course as most higher handicappers should be playing here instead of the higher priced and tougher courses. The whites will give you a very good challenge as a high and mid-handicapper allike. Again, just because it is fairly straight does not mean easy! It is always in very good condition as well. and it is a total bargain!

I am a fairly new golfer, but this would not be a course that I would recommend to friends. I play with a ladies club to get experience. Flat course, not very interesting, and not in great condition. There are 2 other public courses in close proximity that I prefer to play.

This course is very fair for the money and facilities offered, especially for Orange County, CA.

Driving range had mats not a big fan of mats. Flat course, Greens are in nice condition. Paces was a little slow due to walking fivesome. A very mixed group of golfers young, older male and females. No houses, and public restroom available. Awesome breakfast menu. Watiers sevice was great. My daughter and I plan to return soon.
