Shadow Mountain Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Palm Desert, California.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club first opened for play in 1958. It is the oldest course in Palm Desert. Another way to say it is, "Shadow Mountain was Palm Desert's first golf course." The course was designed by Gene Sarazen. Summarizing the layout of the course, Sarazen said: “The new modern course of this type is shorter than most, but is not easier to play. It will give the golfer who uses his brain a chance against the competitor who hits with power, and I think it will be one of the sportiest and most challenging courses in the entire area”.

Shadow Mountain is 5375 yards long. It is ideal for the senior golfer who no longer hits his drives over 200 yards. Built to test but not overtax golfers, the par 70 Palm Desert golf course is one of few in the desert that can still be walked. The course challenges golfers of all abilities and rewards golfers who shape their shots and use their head more than their driver. With over 700 mature palm trees, the fairways are well defined and the challenging greens are protected by well placed sand bunkers. Tucked in the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains of south Palm Desert, Shadow Mountain Golf Club is protected from the winds that plague many desert golf courses.

As of now this course is accepting outside public play. Nine 4somes per day. Narrow fairways and small greens make for some tricky shots!

This course is very much fun. Very mature with very good bunkers. It has two par fives that are very reachable for a long hitter however the greens are very well protected. The courses main defense is it's greens. They are very fast and undulating. If you are above the hole it's three putt time. Golfers of every level can enjoy this course.
