The Stone Eagle Golf Club opened in 2005. The course was designed by Tom Doak.
Stone Eagle Golf Club is an amenity of Stone Eagle, one of Palm Desert's premier golf communities. The residences are detached from the course at Stone Eagle, so golfers won't have to worry about noise from homes or passing cars. Stone Eagle is known for being one of the most aesthetically pleasing courses in the area, located high above the Coachella Valley floor amongst rugged desert scenery. The course is Tom Doak at his best. It is carved through boulder fields without any trees or homes to mar the stark beauty.

Stone Eagle is the best course in the desert and by far the most unique experience. It sits between 850' and 1250' in the mountains with no housing element. Of the courses 250 acres, 95 are turfed and the rest desert. The conditions are pristine--it's like playing on a carpet and you commune with nature. A busy day is 15 4somes and most days there are 8-10 groups playing. Tee times are not required and if you play in the afternoon, there will be one or two other groups on the course.

If this isn't the best golf course in the Palm Springs area it must be very close. It boasts superb conditions, great design and awesome geography. The fairways are open and undulating and the greens, tucked away in the most interesting places, are difficult but fair. Imagine someone rolling out a green carpet through boulders and canyons in a sublime desert mountain setting and you have a picture of Stone Eagle. I would play this every chance I got.
