Detailed description of Mesquite Golf & Country Club, CLOSED 2022

Mesquite Golf & Country Club is a Resort, 18-hole golf course located in Palm Springs, California.

The Mesquite Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1986. Bert Stamps designed the golf course.

Stamps developed Mesquite in the shadow of the majestic San Jacinto & Santa Rosa mountain range, offering golfers breathtaking views as they wind through 800 gently swaying palm trees. The Mesquite Golf Course features lakes and mature tree-lined fairways with seven bridges and provides a challenge for players of all skill levels. The Mesquite golf course is a traditional and mature 18-hole championship layout that is well-bunkered. The course plays over and along a streambed, so it is much more challenging when the water flows. Mesquite has hosted several local PGA and Golden State Tour events. Bermuda greens.

The Clubhouse at The Mesquite Golf & Country Club was built in classic Spanish style and boasts over 15,000 square feet. It includes an elevated full restaurant, banquet area, and patio with breathtaking views of the mountains and lush fairways, a cocktail lounge, a pro shop, and two racquetball courts.

The golf course at Mesquite Golf & Country Club plays 6,312 yards from the tips for a course rating of 69.5 and a slope rating of 122. Par for the Mesquite Golf Course is 72.

Closed Summer of 2022.

After a four-year effort by the Oswit Land Trust, a donor has bought Mesquite, which straddles Farrell Drive in Palm Springs, and donated the 110 acres to the Oswit trust. The trust will in turn work to create a more natural land preserve on the property.

Cow pasture, at best. No drinking water on course in the desert is a joke. They give you ice chips to suck on in an ice chest. No bottled water or any thing. It used to be a nice course. They should shut it down or sell it to someone who cares about golf. So sad to see a golf course in a great city go to hell.

After the reseeding they opened the course on October 5th. and we played on the 9th. We played the course as when we made the reservation they told us the course was in great shape. We teed off and after 4 holes forund the bunker had grass growing in the sand. the greens had bare spots and appeared needing water, tee boxes were uneven and needed cutting. The fairways were not bad but the ruff was ruff. Over all after playing all 18 holes the whole course was just bad. The couse should have been in better condition being it was closed for reseeding prior to the open on the 5th. I went a saw the manager and she stated she would mention it to the owners. I live in palm springs and will never call this course as there are too many courses in the desert to play.

No GPS, Staff were good/helpful, an old course that could some updating/upgrades. Not a difficult course, so would it be ok for folks learning to play. Need to get a marshall on course to aid with speed of play. There was a foursome in front of our twosome all the way around that NEVER allowed us to play through and there were holes open front of them.
