Each hole of this Pete Dye course has its challenge. The greens can be difficult to score. Play for position on next shot is a must. Nice practice facility and staff is friendly and helpful. Must play twice to adjust and get a good feel from back tees.

Layout (numerous hills and sand traps) is not for the beginning or average golfer. Accurate tee shot and iron play a must to score. Greens fast at times. Slow play may ruin your swing rhythm. Troon staff manage the course very well.

All bunkers are 90% dirt and are frequently roto-tilled---thus renovation with lots of sand is required. Forward tees are too short at 4841 yards and the next tee box is too long at 5587 for women.
