Ballyneal Golf and Hunt Club is a private 30-hole golf facility located in Holyoke, Colorado, approximately three hours northeast of midtown Denver. The facility has the 18-hole, Championship Course, and the 12-hole, par-3, Mulligan Course.
The Ballyneal Championship Golf Course opened in 2006. The course was designed by Tom Doak.
Founded by brothers from the small agricultural town of Holyoke, in north-eastern Colorado, the Ballyneal golf course was built upon some of the finest duneland in world golf. These dunes, almost four hours south of Nebraska's famous Sand Hills Golf Club, were ready-made golfing fields discovered by the brothers when they were small boys chasing cattle around their parent's farm. Years later, having established a small hunting club outside of town, they returned to the dunes they had discovered as kids and decided to develop them into a formal golf facility.
Ballyneal is a destination club in the truest sense. Ballyneal has been built and maintained for a specific ideal: a private, walking only, authentic North American, inland links golf experience. Ballyneal is not trying to re-create the great links courses of Scotland or Ireland, but simply to provide a select few with the opportunity to play golf the way it was originally designed to be played while being in the middle of the United States.
Letting Mother Nature dictate the flow instead of forcing the flow was paramount in the routing of the course. There are no tee or yardage markers on the property to constrain the ability and the imagination to play. The fescue surface and the gusty conditions promote links style golf. The options that are presented by the design, the playing surface, and the conditions are limitless. Ballyneal evokes the skills and imagination of golf in its earliest form. Golf at Ballyneal is a game that is an expression of the land, the game, and the player.
Ballyneal Golf & Hunt Club stretches to 7,130 yards from the back most teeing areas and plays to a par of 71.
In addition to the 18-hole championship course, The Club has a one-acre putting course, the par-3 Mulligan Course, and on-site lodging and dining. The club has also returned to its roots in hunting by providing year round access to a 10-station sporting clays course and 5-stand. World class, upland pheasant hunts complete with professional guides and dogs are offered during the winter months.

Although it is a 160 mile drive from Denver, and there is little to do except golf, eat and drink, this is as close to Scotland golf as Bandon is. Terrific golf course. Got the chance to play it for four days. They have limited accomodations on site. But there are 2 bars and a restaurant. It is all walking, no carts. Worth the travel if you want to say you played Ballyneal

I've been lucky enough to play here a few times and it just keeps getting better and better. One of the best courses and experiences anywhere.
