Detailed description of The Golf Club At Bear Dance

The Golf Club At Bear Dance is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Larkspur, Colorado.

The Golf Club At Bear Dance opened for play in 2002. The course was designed and built by PGA Members Corey Aurand, Stuart Bruening, Dennis Hogan, and Brian Whitcomb, and home to the Colorado Section of the Professional Golfer's Association of America, Bear Dance provides a true Colorado golf experience.

Consistently rated as Colorado's best, and most challenging public golf course, Bear Dance offers generous tree-lined fairways framed by flashing white sand bunkers, striking water features, and intricate greens. Just minutes from downtown Denver and Colorado Springs. The Golf Club at Bear Dance is a secluded mountain course that feels as though you drove miles to get there. The rolling terrain of the golf course has numerous elevation changes and challenging ridges that come into play. The scenic landscape is covered with dense groves of ponderosa pine, towering oak trees, and native grass valleys. The generous fairways are lined with trees and water hazards come into play on a few holes. Golf Club at Bear Dance demands accuracy, providing a formidable test for any golfer. One of the most notably difficult holes is the par-4 sixth, which features a bear paw-shaped bunker in front of the green. In addition to the challenging round, the back nine faces the mountains in the West, offering amazing views.

The 18-hole championship design offers five sets of tees, providing golfers of every skill level an unforgettable challenge. With no contiguous fairways on the par 72, 7726 yard layout, you'll enjoy a very private and serene round of golf.

Professional tees: par-72, 7,726 yards

Black tees: par-72, 7,344 yards

Blue tees: par-72, 6,879 yards

White tees: par-72, 6,293 yards

Gold tees: par-72, 5,240 yards

Pace of play that day was slow. I haved played other times and it has been fine. I think that day they had a great price for an end of season special that brought out some beginner-average types. It's a difficult course and would definitely take more time for a high handicapper.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Ranks with the best in this price level, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

My favorite of over 60 Colorado golf courses played. Great tree cover for area, and terrific layout and design. Signature hole with bear claw shaped bunkers is memorable indeed. Very cool place!

Loved everything about the course, but... I don't like being told by the starter that, if I hit a ball in the woods and can't find it, I should go straight out towards the fairway and drop a ball with a one-stroke penalty, i.e., play lost balls as a lateral hazard!!! And I don't like being told I can't spend 5 minutes looking for a ball. Both these "local rules" are there just to get golfers around the course more quickly and make more money for the course. When I spend this much money, I want to play real golf. Why is it that the more expensive courses are the ones most likely to have these "local rules". It really leaves a bad taste for me. P.S. I'm a fast player and NOT the cause of slow play.

Great course and very well maintained. A lot of tree lined holes and nice elevation changes. Played on a full day and the pace of play was great. There were a few blind shots that left you guessing and required some imagination which was a nice change. Overall I thought this was a very nice and enjoyable course but it was a bit more expensive than I would like for the ambiance and scenery it provided. It is a nice mountain course but it is very wooded and it doesn't provide the views or scenery that a luxury resort might offer for this same price. If money is no object then this is a course I would recommend. If you don't have money to burn then I would not recommend this course. I played a round in Hawaii for the same price. The people at Bear Dance should really come down on the price.

Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Better courses for less nearby

Wonderful golf course, with a different feel than most other Denver area courses (lots of elevation change, and lots of trees).

I am an occasional golfer and played from the forward tees. I found the course challenging but not so hard I was frustrated. My husband (who is a very good golfer) played from the blue tees and found it a good challenge as well.

Wonderful Colorado course, lots of great views from the tees, some areas under construction will enhance play next season. A high quality golf experience. Gotta hit 'em straight on most fairways! Not tricks but requires good course management.
