Play the course twice this year, first in the Spring when it was wet and later in Sept when it was dry. The staff made the visits enjoyable but the course needs some help. The early visit had high rough due to the wet conditions and the second visit had fairways burnt out and hard but the greens were fine. Course needs a watering system. Will come back again.

Let me start by saying the conditions were not as bad as some people have said. The course was green (likely due to recent wet weather) and the greens were smooth (although very hard) so this course is playable. That being said, if you are an above average golfer (conditions make it hard to score well) or someone who is used to playing nicer courses I would not suggest playing this course. The fairways were not very good and sometimes were hard to distinguish from the rough. The greens are small and very hard, so they are almost impossible to hit even with a good shot without getting lucky. Also plan on losing some golf balls if you miss the fairways. Even on shots that are not too bad there are areas with a lot of debris (leaves, sticks, mud) so it is easy to lose a golf ball. The price at the course is nice if you walk ($25), but an additional $17 for a cart makes this course overpriced. It is a good course for the casual golfer who is not picky about the conditions.

Banner Country Club has improved the playing conditions FIVE FOLD in the last several years. Growing up in the area, I have played this course a lot over the last 20 years and it has come a LOOOONG way with course improvements, especially over the last 3 years. If you have never played Banner, or haven't played it recently, do yourself a favor this spring. The greens fees are DIRT CHEAP, with a special running most days for something like $25 for 18 holes before 12:00 (or maybe even until 2:00 p.m.?), and if you want to ride you will NOT find lesser cart fees in Connecticut! Bottom line, play Banner once and you'll be back at LEAST a couple more times every season, and with more loot in your wallet.

HARD TO TELL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAIRWAY AND ROUGH. COUPLE OF NEW HOLES BUT FIRWAYS DRY NEED TO WATER THIS COURSE OR IT WILL BURN. GREENS OK SMALL BUT IN GOOD CONDITION. NO FOOD ON MONDAY SO COME PREPARED. COULD BE A NICE COURSE IF THEY WATERERED FAIRWAYS. BE CAREFUL ON FIRST HOLE BIG POND YOU CANNOT SEE IN FAIRWAY AND ON 18TH HOLE POND JSUT BEFORE GREEN YOU CANNOT SEE AND NO STAKES TO MARK WHERE IT IS
