This course's greens were totally renovated about 2 years ago and was, quite simply, made easier. The character of the greens used to be on par with Pinehurst (course was designed by a Donald Ross protege) but were very difficult to maintain. So, they were modernized (read: flattened) and the course now slopes about 8 strokes easier than in the past. This course hosted a US Open qualifier in the past.
