Scenic Hills Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Pensacola, Florida.
Scenic Hills Country Club opened in 1958. The course was designed by Chic Adams. The course was redesigned in 1992 by Jerry Pate.
Scenic Hills Golf Club is the only Florida Golf Course to host a USGA US Open. Scenic Hills hosted the 1969 US Women's Open, won by World Golf Hall of Fame member Donna Caponi after a dramatic comeback and a final clutch putt. Her 5 stroke comeback remains the best final day charge in US Open History.
Scenic Hills is in sharp contrast to other golf courses in Florida. Dramatic elevation changes are prevalent as well as mature tree lined fairways. While water plays a factor on six holes the forced carry over these hazards is minimal insuring a fun and enjoyable round of golf. The 18-hole championship course mixes natural beauty with a layout certain to offer golfers of all skill levels a challenge and a good time.
There are four sets of tee boxes on every hole. The course also has a comprehensive practice facility featuring a driving range and putting green.
Scenic Hills Country Club is a par 71 layout that measures 6,730 yards from the Gold Tees; 6,317 yards from the Blues; 6,021 from the White markers and 5,150 from the forward Red tees.

We drove from Biloxi to play this course because of torrential rains in MS. It was ok for having the only thing to do that day and at least we got to play golf.

Most people don't realize this but it is the ONLY course in Florida to host a US Open (women's in 1969). The course was redesigned by Jerry Pate (you probably heard of him--a men's US Open Champion)in 1992. This course is known for its hills (yes, this is still Florida) and lightning-fast Champion Bermuda greens. There are a few doglegs and somewhat blind shots which makes for a good round. Love driving over (I live 50 miles away) and playing this gem.

Scenic Hills has a good combination of holes. It is long enough to challenge even the big hitters, but from the correct set of tees it is still playable by any handicap. It is by far the best conditioned course, greens and fairways, within a 100 miles.

Gets a little soggy and doesn't drain well after rain, but that is only negative to share. It rains a lot in this part of Florida. Staff and facilities nice. Layout is fun. Greens always roll well. Pin placement at times can make course very challenging.
