Day 66 - 100 days, 100 courses (Saturday, May 18, 2019)

It was a scorcher in Atlanta today but luckily I had a great course and some good golfers to distract me from the humidity.

Bear's Best combines 18 of Jack Nicklaus's best holes from his courses around the world to create a challenging course. The par 3s were killers with small greens and lots of water.

Shot an 88 with 2 lost balls (none on the par 3s).

This is a beautiful place to play golf. All of the holes look like signature holes at any other golf course. The fairways are like many a green i have played before. However the greens, although fast, are not in the best of shape. At least at this time of year. The worst thing that can happen to you is to get into one of the those holes that have 150 yards of bunkers in a row. Some of which are 70 yards long. Once in it is hard to get out of unless you shoot out sideways. At least if you are a 25 handicapper like myself. f you avoid those then a good score is very likely. Unlike an Arnold Palmer course, Nicklaus is generous to high handicappers. However this is a semi-private course. I got to play as a guest and at a highly reduced rate.

Second year I've played - and the Fore Caddies were missing... Was a nice touch having a Caddy for the group. Lost art for many courses.

I sincerely enjoy visiting this north Atlanta course among others. Additionally, I love pounding Sir David Biggs on one of his home courses. We also like beating up on 'The Anaconda' AKA: Randy Smith. I look forward to playing this course again soon!

Great course! Wow. OK, paid $115 to play, which is high for N. Atlanta, but incrediable. My friend James said it was his favorite place to play, and I now know why. This course is designed by Jack N. and he select from all over the world his favorite holes for courses he designed, and built it - so cool. Every hole is different, and they even truck-in black sand from MT for a hole they copied from a course up there b/c it is the local sand type. Design is ever changing, very very vacation & speacial event worthy, and b/c they charge so much, the really provide a nice gap between groups. It was crowded with no pressure for pace which was great. Nice change, caddies are optional. Now for the only downer - the greens were incrediable conditions yet for the type of players and caddies on the course daily - there were way too many ball mark scars. Wish that was not the case, but it did not hurt the putt, just was surprising. New favorite for N. Atl.

Great course always well maintained. A bit pricey as they require forecaddies during prime hours. Course is moderately difficult and has challenging holes. Great to play if you're a Jack Nicklaus fan and want to play holes from his course designs.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area

Another enjoyable experience at Bear's Best. Tough greens, pin placements, and trap locations, but still fair if you are on your game. We're going back again.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level
