Detailed description of Hawaii Prince Golf Club

Hawaii Prince Golf Club, is a Resort, 27 hole golf course complex located in EWA BEACH, Hawaii.

Hawaii Prince Golf Club's three interchangeable nines (A/B/ and C) create a variety of playing experience for all skill levels. Their emerald green long fairways are highlighted with 90 white sand bunkers and 10 picturesque lakes that protect 27 manicured greens.

Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay on sugar cane fields on the Ewa Plain of Oahu, the Hawaii Prince Golf Club courses are memorable courses with character, variety, and a good test of your golf skill. Character and variety, in this case, are euphemisms for sidehill lies, downhill lies and uphill lies that are part of the unique challenges of the 27-hole Hawaii Prince Golf Course.

Each of the three nine holes "A, B and C" is related but has its own identity. The most challenging combination is A-C, slope rating 134 from the back tees. The least difficult is A-B. Ten lakes dot the course. Water comes into play on six holes of the A course, three on the B and seven of the C. The B course saves the toughest for last, a par-4 that usually plays into the trade winds, with water to the left, front and right of the tee. This is probably the most difficult hole of all three courses.

The toughest hole on the C is on the second, a par-4 dogleg with a lake on the left, several fairway bunkers on the right and the out-of-bounds beyond that.

The putting greens on A, B and C are among the fastest in Hawaii.

The Hawaii Prince Golf Club web site provides the following tips from their golf professional and NBC analyst, Mark Rolfing:

"A must-do experience for any golfer coming to Hawaii. The three interchangeable nines offer a variety of challenges with multiple sets of tees and well-placed bunkers awaiting any errant shot. Depending on which combination of nines you play, you are sure to get a diverse experience."

Tips of Holes #B8, #B9, #C1, and #C2 My personal favorite combination is "B" followed by "C." It sports the toughest stretch of par 4 holes in the island… maybe in Hawaii. I like to call B8, B9, C1 and C2 'the longest mile.' This is 1,716 yards of golf without a par 5! These holes are not only long, but demand great accuracy and what's more, they normally play into the prevailing trade winds. Play these holes smart. Remember, for most golfers, a 5 is a good score on any of these four par 4's."

Golf is in flight path of Honolulu Airport so low planes were flying over during the entire round. Round went on quite a bit because of stacked up foursomes in front. Greens in excellent condition.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I won't play again, I wouldn't recommend this course, Better courses for less nearby

Felt staff was not very helpful. Advertized in book in hotel room that rental clubs were included however they charged us when we arrived at the course. Said we had a promotional rate which I don't believe we did although our rate included transportation. Rate on Golf Now for that day was $40 less than what we paid then had to add another $40 for clubs. Would not go back.

If you're coming to Hawaii to play golf, there are better options. (Try Luana Hills). But if you're going to be here a while, this is not a bad course at all. Just nothing terribly special about it.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again
