Played the blue quite a few times over the years. It is a resort course bordered on many holes by condos etc, but quite roomy most of the time. A few great picture type holes but most are pretty mundane. Generally the course is kept in pretty good condition but greens are slow. I generally find the price and the staff a little stuck up for what the course really is. The other two courses are much more difficult and interesting, the emerald and gold but I don't play them much. We bought a two round card, the first game got rained out at the third hole (they didn't close the course but we were soaked in a tropical downpour) but they wouldn't refund due to the fact they hadn't closed. The second game we gave up after playing nine holes in three hours. Again, no refund or even rain check.

I was fortunate enough to play the Blue Course for free as a guest of a local Destination Management Company owner and long-time resident of Maui. It was $50 to rent clubs so that was pretty high for just fair set of clubs (older Calaways.) The course was in great shape, it was warm without being crazy hot and I thought it was a fair challenge to a 12 handicap Senior Player like me.

Fairways fine, greens surprisingly slow - played same course as Senior Skins, so expected better. Layout is okay, not great - pretty easy for what is billed as a difficult course. Only real challenge is length. Friendly staff, good facility. Played after 12 noon for price break, but still paid $140 - morning rate is $179, which is just too high for such an easy resort course.

This is the Emerald course. Fabulous course, perfect greens and fairways. Views every hole. Perhaps the best course in Hawaii (we played Poipu, Princville(2), Lagoons, Kaanapali Royal). The only downside is that it may be easier than the others listed. But given a choice to play one in Hawaii, this would be it. We got a good price because they had sanded about 10 days earlier. Oh, and the starter gave us the best tip about how to read the greens and it applied to the other courses as well. (putts roll towards the brown edges of the cup.)

Wonderful course to play...probably my favorite course in Hawaii. Fairways are relatively open and forgiving with spectacular views and course landscaping.
