The ownership / management has recently changed, for the better. The staff is now welcoming and accommodating. I consider Chalet Hills Golf Course to be tough, a real challenge.

Rumor has it that Chalet Hills is in financial trouble & is to be taken over by the local government. This hot summer appears to have caused problems with burn out and/or fungus with parts of fairways & greens; both areas were shaved to the length of the top of a pool table the day that I played, making for extremely fast putting and difficult "tight lies" in the fairways (i prefer a bit of fluff for my iron shots). I hope the course remains solvent because it is a great layout (very challenging) and nature's delight. What was at one time a very expensive place to play is now a reasonable rate in line with two excellent nearby courses, Foxford Hills & Prairie Isle.

I have literally played this course over 1000 times and I never get tired of it. The course took a beating this year with all of the hot weather, but the fairways have been reseeded and are growing in nicely. Chalet offers some excellent membership programs all of which include cart. I personally prefer Chalet Hills GC over Kemper Lakes, which was also designed by Ken Killen. Only con is they could possibly use more rangers on the course to keep pace of play moving. Usually pace isn't too bad, unless you get someone in front of you who has no business being on a difficult track like Chalet, has lost too many balls to count and has the attitude that they paid their money and they can take as long as they want. This course is definitely challenging: a lot of water, tight fairways and very wooded. The most scenic course in the northern Illinois area. A must to play.

Friday late morning....good weather.... no carts available upon arrival, finally got cart just before tee off and no gps in cart (included in price. Course has cut green fees in last years and the maintenance is showing the lack of care. Use to be a primo course, expensive but worth it. Now its average at best quality wise (still a great layout). Would rather pay more and have the course maintained properly
