Detailed description of Sand Creek Country Club

Sand Creek Country Club is a Private, 27 hole golf facility in Chesterton, Indiana. Sand Creek Country Club has three 9-hole golf courses. These courses can be combined in pairs to form three different 18 hole course challenges. The nine-hole courses are The Creek Course, The Lake Course, and The Marsh Course.

Sand Creek Country Club, the original Lake/Marsh Course first opened for play in 1979. The Creek Course opened in 1995. The courses were designed by Ken Killian and Dick Nugent.

Creek Course__________

The first of the three nine-hole courses at Sand Creek is wrapped around the curves of Sand Creek and Lake Billington, into which the creek feeds. The course's highlights include the par 4, #3 that gives long hitters the option of carrying the eastern edge of the lakefrom the tee. #4 is a par 3, plays 190 yards over water from the back tees to a tiered green. Over all, the course puts a premium on club selection and accuracy, while winds off Lake Michigan, just north of Sand Creek, often come into play.

Lake Course__________

The Lake Course at Sand Creek has received substantial revision years, including the addition of a split-fairway par 5 that includes sod bunkers and a green guarded by water and a bulkhead. The par-4, #5 hole is a slight dogleg right. The tee shot requires supreme positioning to allow for a good angle approach to a well-guarded green. The finishing hole presents tremendous challenge from the tee. Lake Morgan borders the entire right side of the hole; bite off as much as you want to set up your approach on this challenging par 4.

Marsh Course__________

Sand Creek's Marsh Course opened for play in Spring 1995. The course is characterized by extensive wetlands, creeks, ponds, and rolling terrain. #3, a par 4, plays through a narrow throat to a green guarded by a pond and waterfall. #4 plays through a valley to a green that is virtually an island, bordered behind by wetlands and in front by a bunker and Sand Creek.
