Blackthorn Golf Club first opened for play in 1994. The course was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan.
Blackthorn Golf Club is a 19 hole layout. The first hole, the Blarney Hole is the ultimate mulligan / warm up hole. The Blarney Hole is a short par four that plays over a pond to a well-bunkered green. (Hit the Blarney Stone fwith your te shot and they give you a complimentary logo ball.)
Blackthorn Golf Club's broad fairways framed by 94 bunkers, wetlands, ponds, and native prairie grasses lead to subtly contoured and swept-up-tiered bentgrass greens.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,136 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,181 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 554 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 137 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 5, a 465 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Blackthorn Golf Club is # 16, the 137 yard par-3.
