Ravines Golf Course

I normally travel with 2-4 foursomes of seniors and others who play many courses from our area of NW Indiana. We normally play the Ravines early in the season because of the warmer weather south and also the fact that the course is just enjoyable to play. They treat you nice and the rates are very acceptable to our group. The course has been utilized for the boy's semi-state high school tournament because of the quality. The front nine is a links style course but very challenging and open. The tees can be played by all since one can find level of ability. The back nine gives meaning to the Ravines. It is a placement golf course where one much be able to place the ball and hit among large trees and also over large ravines as the name indicates. It is also like playing two different courses. The people are very nice and receptive to our group coming down. We do so a couple of times each season from Crown Point almost 75 miles away. There are many nice courses in this area and the nicest in our group's estimation would be The Kampen, the Big Ten course at Purdue. We won't be playing there often since rates are so high for seniors and other. We keep waiting for deals but none offered. The nicest that we play and most challenging is Coyote Crossing. Great difficult course and rates under $30. One we have not tried but will do in the near future will be this year's IHSAA semi-state course, The Battle Ground. Only negative of the Ravines is the size of the clubhouse and also the pro shop offerings. Our group always like to eat and rink and not many offerings to be had.

I normally travel with a group of seniors from cp area. We have already played over 20 courses this season.

For the first time ever, we decided to play The Ravines. The course proved to be one of the finest we have played. Course was in great shape, fairways manicured and fast, traps great and course was challenging.

Almost two different nines. First nine was inviting long and open with links style. Back nine was a course from hell with hills ravines and blind shots. Very enjoyable to play.

In the vicinity of Lafayette, I would recommend Coyote Crossing and Then The Ravines.

We also have played the Kampen and like it much but it is priced far too high and no breaks for seniors or for those traveling to course from almost 100 miles away. What a shame.

Would place The Ravines in same tier as Sandy Pines. Only problem I saw was the fact of poor food and bar afterwards. Hotdogs and not much else.
