Monticello Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Monticello, Iowa.
Founded in 1911, The Monticello Golf Club is one of the oldest existing golf clubs in Eastern Iowa. Architect Bill Hall Sr. AKA "Black Bill".
The course sits between the Jones County Fairgrounds and the Maquoketa River.
The course has several sand bunkers. The terrain is fairly flat. The Maquoketa River comes into play on a few holes, and a few trees line the fairways. The greens are very small and generally run back to front.
The course claims several signature holes including the #8, a par-3 (over the pond) challenge that can lead to a low score...or disaster!
The other signature hole is #3, a par 5, #3 requiring a tee shot through the tunnel of trees. You play the rest of the hole along the cliffs overlooking the Maquoketa river.
