Sand Creek Station Golf Club is an 18 hole public course located in Newton, Kansas.
Sand Creek Station Golf Club first opened for play in 2006. The course was designed by Jeffrey D. Brauer.
The course plays on the town's railroad history, and many holes border the railroad tracks. A number of the holes are reminiscent of famous golf holes that are also located adjacent to railroad tracks. One such is the famous Road Hole green on their 16th Hole, which once sat adjacent to a railway. Another replicates the famous “Redan†from North Berwick, Scotland. Other holes have characteristics of early American holes, which also fronted railways. The 12th hole is similar to the fourth at the National Golf Links of America, one of our early classics. The ninth features a small platform green; typical of early American courses.
Despite many old style characteristics, the course is also modern. Unlike courses of old, Sand Creek plays to over 7200 yards from the back tees, which, combined with the ever-present breeze and holes routed in a variety of direction, should make it one of the top challenges in the state. With five sets of tees, it should also have a challenge for all levels of play..
Holes 1, 2, 8 and 9 border Sand Creek. The course also uses every existing tree to enhance golf holes strategy and character. Ponds have been built to add to the attractiveness as well as the challenge.

Watched from the highway as they built this course. Best course in the area. Always having green fee specials--includes driving range balls, and carts with GPS. Outstanding value--would be easily 3 to 4 times more expensive in an urban area. Not overly crowded--rounds usually right at 4 hours. Hosting last U.S. Amateur at Public course in Summer of 2014. Great contract management at this town-owned golf course.

Despite being off-season, this course was still in excellent shape and pretty green for mid-November. It has some substantially lengthy par 5s, even from the white tees. Number 10 is billed as the longest hole in Kansas and the card says it is 640 from the champ tees; I played it from the white, into the south wind, and it was plenty long at 555. The course has some housing development, but not yet a lot, so you can enjoy a lot a holes with nothing but nature around you. The stretch from 8 through 11 presents as much variety as you can cram into four holes, from a 400+ par 4 and that incredibly long par 5 to two short par 4s around 300 which are anything but easy due to routing and greens with elevation change. I really liked the old-time ambience of some of the holes, possibly because they don't yet have a lot of houses. If you are in the Newton/Hutchinson area, don't pass on Sand Creek; you can spend a lot more and get a lot less at better known venues, but you'll kick yourself later.

Had a great time. Had a two some behind us. Went to let them threw. Said not to worry only play 9 and did not mind the pace. Have only ever had one problem and it was with the players in front of us. Not sure think they were on the tour the way they played.
