Sandy Creek Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Ashland, Kentucky.
Sandy Creek Golf Course first opened for play in 1965. The course was designed by Buck Blankenship.
Sandy Creek is a par-70, 18-hole public course that offers interesting tests if you are a skilled golfer. Built on an 82-acre site, Sandy Creek Golf Course is lined with hundreds of trees, many planted when the course was built. This puts an emphasis on the need to make straight tee shots and accurate approaches. Watch out for the water: Sandy Creek is bordered on three sides by the East Fork of the Little Sandy River. Water comes into play on nine holes.
Their smaller sized greens add to the enjoyment and challenge. Their size definitely makes them resistant to low scoring and puts a premium on the approach shot.
#4, a par-4 that measures 320 yards from the back tees and 288 from the front, has an elevated landing area. It's hard to get close to the green and the green slopes away from you.
#13, is a reachable par-5 (485 yards from the back and 359 from the front). But there is a creek down the right side of this dogleg and a ditch crossing in the landing area, causing trouble for big hitters.
#16, 17 and 18 holes make for great finishers. The 17th, for example, is a very tempting short par-4 that plays 297 yards from the back tees and 266 from the front.
#18, a par-4 measuring 363 yards from the back and 281 from the front tees, is a stronger test. There is a generous fairway and a green that is very receptive to your second shot, it's a great opportunity to score well, but if you try to drive the green, you may go out of bounds on the right side.
Blue tees: par-70, 5,538 yards, 64.4 / 108
White tees: par-70, 5,150 yards, 62.6 / 105
Red tees: par-70, 4,629 yards, 64.0 / 106
