Headed south to take a warm golfing break and stopped at Louisville to play three (3) of their thirty (30) plus local courses. Decided to play this 88-year-old course that has a rich history and is a local favorite, at a great price.

They have seven (7) tee boxes listed from Blue's @ 7,110yds / 74.4 / 126 down to Orange @ 3,914yds / 60.3 / 92 but currently them doubled up for the winter conditions. We (Andy & Doug) decided to play from the Whites @ 3,320/3,294yds / 71.8 / 124 on this rolling, treelined fairway Par 36/36 layout. Although the course was wet from recent rains, it drained well and the greens were rolling at 8-9 and very smooth.

#1 is a 426yd Hcp 5 dogleg right, that's downhill from 200 yds out, feeding right-down to the green if you hug the RH side of the fairway. #3 is their Hcp 1 Par 5 at 586yds and being a sweeping right treelined fairway makes you play for the middle, to get that par. #4 is an uphill par 3 at 217yds that plays very tough and long with a false green front. The #7 Par 5 at 564yds (545yd White) has its dogleg left at 150yds from the green and tall trees on the inside downhill corner to the green.

The Back 9 starts out with a dogleg right 577 yds (526 yds White) par 5 that sets up nicely for three (3) smart shots to the small round green. #11 at 390yds (371 yds White) has the toughest back Blue/White tees that require 200yds to catch the fairway bordered by LH water and RH trees. #15 is another dogleg right 565 yds (516 yds White) par 5 that starts with a treelined chute from the back tees. Finishing up #18 is an uphill 442 yds (392 yds White) par 4 is a tough finish to a blind green.

Looking back on the course layout, only two (2) holes (#5 & #18) were straightaway with the exception of the four (4) Par 3's. This is one great Public course that I'm sure looks a lot better in prime season. Enjoyed playing here and shooting 39/37 w/36putts as my driver and irons were very friendly today. Looking forward to playing the Standard CC and Nevel Meade GC in the next two (2) days.
