Had two (2) hours to find something to do in Ann Arbor today and with this 1962 Charles Maddox nine (9) hole course 15 minutes away.......I'm Golfing. They gave me the Twilight rate of $7 for 9 /wlk and with the rain just stopping, it was wide open. The scorecard has the yardage listed as 1,321yds from the Mens tees and 1,209yds for the Womens tees on this Par 28 tree sheltered layout. Conditions here are as good as any Five Star layout from tee to green with groomed sand traps well placed on all holes. Just imagine you're getting ready to hit that 2nd shot on ANY $60+ course.......open your eyes and your here. The greens vary from small to average size that undulation will make you look close on each putt on these smooth rolling (8-9) greens. The #1 is a 132yd to a two (2) front trap blind green. The #2 is a 77yd to a uphill small round blind green that finding center is best attack. The #3 is a 159yd with tall overhanging trees on lefthand side so a draw is best played here. The #4 is a 125yd with the green tipped to the back with a center front trap. The #5 is a slightly uphill 159yd with bookend front traps catching those short shots. The #6 at 283yds is the lone Par 4 and Hcp 1 hole here. Its a dogleg right with tall trees in the corner and a very elevated green with front traps. The #7 is a 145yd to a large undulating green with trees on the RH side and two (2) front traps. The #8 at 90yds has the only rear trap and with a back pin today, at -1 under today, I got greedy....Beach. The #9 plays longer than the 159yd and being Hpc 2 is a slight dogleg left around a VERY Tall large tree 130yds out that requires a slight draw. The green is also elevated with two (2) front traps, so its green or a very tough chip. It took me 1hr 10minutes to hit the ball for a 28 w/14putts but seeing my 150 yard shots, needs some work. This is a great course and shouldn't be overlooked because its only nine (9) holes.
