Detailed description of Grand Haven Golf Club, CLOSED 2018
Grand Haven Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Grand Haven Golf Club first opened for play in 1965. The course was designed by Bruce Matthews.
The foundation of the golf course at Grand Haven is a sandy and modestly undulating piece of property just 100 yards from Lake Michigan. This traditionally styled course has elevated tees, and large greens are fast. In addition, there are numerous trees that can alter your shots. The extremely well-bunkered greens are medium-sized and undulating. The front nine offers spectacular elevation changes from tee to green while the back nine winds its way through the dense hardwoods and the natural sand dunes of the west Michigan shoreline. Water comes into play on holes #5, a 200-yard, par 3, which has a pond along the left side of the hole, and #18, a 447-yard, par 4, with a pond sitting along the right edge of the fairway. Grand Haven plays from 5,145 to 6,832-yards, and there are four sets of tees to challenge a variety of skill levels.
Gold tees: par-72, 6,832 yards, rating 72.3, slope 133
Blue tees: par-72, 6,467 yards, rating 70.8, slope 129
White tees: par-72, 6,159 yards, rating 69.4, slope 127
Red tees: par-72, 5,145 yards, rating 69.2, slope 122
The course closed in 2018. The property has been totally renovated and is now American Dunes Golf Course. a Jack Niklaus Signature Course built as a tribute to our military.

For the price ,I expected much better. I was told by the golf pro that it was the same or better than Pilgrams run,well that was a joke. We paid much less for Pilgrams run and they are a four star coarse. Grand Havens coarse is no better than a three.

Part of a golf outing - Shotgun start. Have enjoyed this same outing for 6 years, largely because of the golf course.

Too much "sameness" to the holes. I just played it Saturday and can't say I really remember any of the holes. Course is too tight foraverage golfers. You must be arrow straight to score on this course. Most golfers will get real tired of punching out of the woods or around trees all day.
