The course first opened for play in 1991. Robert W. Bills and Donald L. Childs designed the course.

Well-positioned sand bunkers are found throughout the entire course design. Water hazards (streams, creeks, and ponds) come into play on 16 holes. The course can be difficult due to the undulating greens that are fast and typically putt downhill.

The signature hole, #3, is a 513-yard, par 5, with an elevated tee shot and a risk / reward second shot. If you choose to lay up, you will be faced with a short to mid-iron approach shot to an island green.
