Irish Hills Golf Course

I decided to stop in and play this locally built/owned rolling nine (9) hole located in the beautiful Irish Hills area. I was told by the course manager Ryan, that this started out in the 1920's as a Ski Resort until being redesigned in the 1960's as a golf course. Hence the big elevation changes found throughout the course on every hole but #5 125 yard Par 3. I felt that #6, a 280yd Par 4 (hcp 6) should be the #1 hcp as the ribbon green is 60' above the fairway, cut in the side of the hill. I managed a one (1) putt par but getting the correct carry distance was just plain, luck.

The tee box areas could be improved, sand traps could be edged but the greens rolled/held as good as they looked. Yardage marker (100yd) would be a nice addition as to keep guesswork out of many 2nd shots. This is a good short (2,340yd / Par 34) course that for 9 holes at only $10 w/cart is one great deal.

I talked with two young women golfers on #7 tee box that had bought an unlimited pass w/cart for $50.00 and that's a great local deal.

I ended up shooting 34 w/12 putts (6 saves) and enjoyed the challenge on giving my rangefinder a real workout on elevation changes. Worth stopping if you're driving down US-12 visiting Michigan International Speedway (3 miles away) and looking for a little quiet time with nature. They have new owners as of June 2018 and started making improvements with greens (very nice) already, with more changes to follow.
