Oceana Country Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Shelby, Michigan.
Oceana Country Club first opened for play in 1962.
Although the course is somewhat short, it is quite a challenge for the average player. The fairways are narrow, some are lined with maturing trees and some are wide open. Water hazards do come into play on a few holes, and sand bunkers come into play on eight holes. The small greens are sloped and very fast. A solid short game is the key to scoring well on this course.
Par for the course is 73. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,288 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,103 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 513 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 139 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 9, a 410 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 12, a 139 yard par-3.

On vacation in this area and decided to tryout some different course's, so this was the first one. Only had time for nine (9) holes so for $20 w/ cart we played the front 9 @ 2,995yds / 125 slope / Par 36. (Back 9 is 3,287yds / Par 37) I know the yardage is short but with the rolling layout, blind tee/2nd shots, smaller sized/fast greens making it a short challenging layout. Probably finding the excellent conditions from tee to green, full cover rough mowed to correct height, coupled with undulating fast greens will bring you back here again. The holes that stand out the most on the 1st nine are #5 / Par 5 elevated Blue tee box w/hidden green and #4 slanted/fast green. I shot 42 w/19putts and with everyone talking later about how hard it was to read the lighting fast greens. Will put this on my list to return and play the complete 18 hole layout (6,282yds / 70.1 / 125 / Par 73) on this now Public course, with Country Club conditions on this hidden Gem.

Best greens in the area. Small and fast a real test for anyone. The length is not overwhelming but more than anything you need to have a short game

Took advantage of the $20 18w/cart Friday Special on this beautiful conditioned course to end my week in this area. I played here in 2017 and was surprised by the great conditions and it was good to see....nothing has changed. Was told that this course was purchased last November 2020 by the same owners of Benona Shores and renamed Oceana Golf Club with the same great conditions at both places. The Front 9 from the Tips/Blues plays 3,005 yards and the forward Gold Tees at 2,388yds w/ Par 36. The #4 309yd Par 4 is still one tough green to stay on the LH side front in order to 2 putt for a Par. The elevated tee on #5 Par 5 at 513yds has a great view and need to stay to the LH side for a shot to the hidden green. The Back 9 at 3,287yds Par 37 is much more challenging and #10 a 503yd Par 5 is one hilly fairway to a hidden 3rd shot green. The #11 has you coming back 436yds on a uphill Par 4 that's all carry. The #13 is a straightaway 496yd Par 5 with a uphill green tucked in a woods. Going back 495yds where you came on #14 from is a nice downhill Par 5 with a much easier 3rd shot. The #17 is a 175yd Par 3 tucked with a woods long/swamp right and a green that kicks towards the right. Landing on the lefthand front (draw) gives the best chance to stay on this green. The #18 is a easy 302yd Par 4 with a pond covering the LH front center of the green so land at the 100yd for a safe holding 2nd shot. Ended up shooting 39/40 w/31putts on this great conditioned course in 1hr 45 minutes as being the first one out has its advantages. Must play here if you're in the area as you won't be disappointed with price or conditions.
