Staying in the area for a few days so I decided to play this 1904, local favorite (only one) 9 hole course next to the Yellowstone River with great views. The course is very flat but with scattered trees, great grass fairways, small raised dome type greens (drainage) that are in great shape. The score card has seven (7) combinations of the four (4) tees from Blues @ 3,250yds / 69.6 / 114 down to 2,572yds / 63.4 / 101 on this Par 36 layout. I decided to play two (2) balls from the Blues because this course is booked almost all day and the greenskeeper told me, thats normal for most AM golfers. The course starts out with its Hcp 1 Par 4 at 431yds that is a slight dogleg left with big hitters cutting the corner. The #2 a 373yd Par 4 that is straightaway with O.B. left and a dome green awaiting your arrival. The #3 Par 3 plays from 204yds down to 159yds with the Yellowstone River running behind the green. The #4 Par 4 at 373yds runs along the river so don't stray to the left. The #5 Par 4 at 330yds also runs along the river that has two (2) tall trees framing the front of the green, guarding stray shots to this raised green. The #6 is the longest hole at 537yds and this Par 5 makes it way back towards #4 tee box. The #7 Par 5 at 520yds comes straight back along #7 fairway with trees guarding the LH side of raised green. The #8 is a Par 3 that plays 130yds and also has a large tree guarding the LH side of green. The #9 is a 352yd dogleg left Par 4 that allows cutting the corner to the 150yd stick. The green is two (2) tier and has a sand trap on the RH side to finish off your round. I ended up shooting 40/38 w/33 putts and enjoyed this great conditioned 117 year old course.
