Detailed description of Silver Oak Golf Course
Silver Oak Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Carson City, Nevada.
Silver Oak golf course first opened for play in 1998. The course was designed by Duncan-Salomon.
Nestled in northwest Carson City, the 18 scenic holes wind through the Sierra Foothills and the Silver Oak residential community. Spread out over 160 acres, the golf course features five sets of tees making Silver Oak enjoyable for golfers of all ages and skill levels. The Par-71 layout is 6,504 yards from the tournament tees.
The course is located just 25 minutes south of Reno and 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Dramatic elevation changes on the opening nine holes produce unparalleled scenic views of the valley. The finishing nine offer a unque contrast to the front as it winds through the Silver Oak master planned community.
The course also features a beautiful pratice facility includes a driving range, practice bunker and putting green.
Silver Oak opened its clubhouse in 2005 featuring a golf shop, locker rooms, restaurant, and banquet facilities.

This course is a combo of two different nines. The front winds up into the hills and is fantastic -- some really good holes -- but the backside goes through a residential development and is nothing special. If they'd been able to keep the back nine in the shape of the front, they would have had something really special here.

I enjoyed the layout of this course very much- the greens were very challenging on the back nine and the fairways were in superb condition.

I enjoyed this course yet again- even though it was windy as all get out during the middle of the round. I felt I played the course much more intelligently (for most of the holes that is) than the last time out and as a result had a better handle on the tricky holes. It helps a lot here to be able to shape your shots!
