Pinon Hills Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Farmington, New Mexico.
Opened in 1989, Pinon Hills was immediately recognized as "one of the best new desert golf courses" by Golf World magazine. In 2002, Pinon Hills was rated by Golf Digest as the #1 municipal golf course in the nation.. The course was designed by Kenneth Dye, Jr.
Sandstone outcroppings and deep canyons serve as handsome hazards on this Ken Dye design, but it's the wildly undulating greens that can send scores skyward. This course was built in the high desert atmosphere, so the ball will travel farther than normal. Water hazards come into play on a few holes. Shots over sandstone canyons and long arroyos will challenge golfers of all levels.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,249 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,522 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 597 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 157 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 17, a 548 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 4, a 196 yard par-3.

We loved this course. Challenging. Great views. Fair. Interesting. Only drawback were the greens. But, they are in the middle of a drought with very, very cold weather recently so you've got to give them some slack. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Don't bother eating there. Just so-so.
