Detailed description of Los Alamos Golf Course

Los Alamos Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course nestled at the base of the Jemez Mountains atop the Pajarito Plateau in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The course, built in 1947 by the Atomic Energy Commission.

This scenic mountain course was built at an elevation of 7,500 feet, but it won't intimidate players because of its traditional design. Hole #18, a 485-yard, par 5, will give walkers a workout with its double dogleg fairway that plays uphill all the way. Playing through Ponderosa Pine and Cottonwood, the sloping fairways and small greens provide a challenge to players of all skill levels. Panoramic vistas and clear, fresh mountain air provide a beautiful setting for an enjoyable round of golf. 

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,496 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5323 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 519 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 162 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 3, a 426 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 12, a 519 yard par-5.
