Holley Brook Golf Course, previously named Brockport Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Brockport, New York.
Brockport Country Club first opened for play in 1960. The course was expanded from 9 holes to 18 holes in 1971. The 18-hole layout was designed by Joe Basso.
Brockport Golf Club boasts a par 72, 6,701 yard course from the back tees providing an enjoyable yet challenging round for all levels of playing ability. The front side is very tight and undulated. You need to sharpen up on your wedge game to master this side. The backside is for the power players so dust off the driver. The course is varied with holes that are short and long, flat and hilly.
It is the front nine at Brockport that offers perhaps the most memorable — or signature — hole on the course. At just 264 yards from the Blue Tees, the par-4 fourth hole isn’t the longest on the course, but it does provide several obstacles for unwary golfers. Off the tee, the fourth hole opens up to a narrow fairway, protected along the right landing area by a pond. Just past the pond, the hole takes a sharp dogleg left, reaching to an elevated green that is protected in front by large trees, and along each side by large bunkers. In fact, the biggest bunker next to the green at No. 4 has earned such a reputation for snaring golf balls, that it has been dubbed “Jaws” by the locals. So — take your chances off the tee to try and reach the green with your drive — but keep in mind that there are several ways to find trouble if your shot isn’t right on target.
Brockport Country Club also offers a somewhat rare feature — a heated, year-round, all-weather practice facility, located on the main level of the pro shop above the practice range. Golfers can stop by the club all year long to keep their skills sharp without having to brave the elements.
