SUNY Delhi College Golf Course (SUNY = State University New York) first opened for play in 1963. The course's front nine is a classic 1960's design renowned for its natural beauty and challenging, undulating greens. The back nine, opened in June 1996, is routed through the rolling terrain of the surrounding mountains.
Course conditions are outstanding and that's no surprise. The College Golf Course at Delhi is a training ground for students enrolled in SUNY Delhi's nationally recognized Golf Course Operations, Turf Management, and Professional Golf Management programs. Students learn all facets of the golf industry and put those skills to work at the course as part of their academic training.
This hilly course is perfect for people who like the challenge of hitting from off some interesting lies. Don't let the first few flat holes fool you, they too are tricky because you must contend with the water hazards. A river also flows throughout the course and comes into play on a few holes.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,401 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,869 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 18, a par-5 that plays to 536 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 12, a par-3 that plays to 151 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 515 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Delhi College Golf Course is # 12, the 151 yard par-3.
