The Sands Point Golf Club is a private golf and skeet facility located in Sands Point, New York. The Club is nationally recognized for its 18-hole A.W. Tillinghast golf course.
What is today the Sands Point golf course, first opened in 1918. Initially a 9-hole course, the course was redone and made an 19-hole course by A.W. Tillinghast. The Tillinghast design opened for play on July 21st, 1927.
Playing over 6,600 yards, from its championship tees this par 71 lay out remains true in character and design. The course continues to be defined by its many deep greenside bunkers which frame elevated greens with putting surfaces of subtle breaks that slope from back to front. An array of strategically placed fairway bunkers and tight landing areas call for precision off the tee and add to the difficulty of play.
The Sands Point Golf Club golf course plays to a par-71 and a maximum distanc of 6,644 yards. The course rating is 72.2 and the slope rating is 127.
