Heron Point Golf Club is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina just minutes from downtown and the airport. Heron Point is an 18- hole resort golf course which is open to the public 364 days a year.

The golf course at Heron Point Golf Club opened for play in 1988. The course was designed by Willard Byrd.

The Golf Course winds through beautiful Carolina Pine Forest and quaint beach neighborhoods. This shotmaker's course features water hazards coming into play on a few holes. The course was built on slightly rolling terrain, so expect an uneven lie now and again. Mounds line both sides of the fairways, and all the water hazards are designated by (black and yellow) checkered flags, because most of the hazards are hidden. . Willard Byrd’s exceptional design offers a challenging round.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6477 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4734 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 546 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 4, a par-3 that plays to 165 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 8, a 387 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Heron Point Golf Club is # 4, the 165 yard par-3. The signature hole is #9, the 546-yard, par 5, requiring a straightaway tee shot in order to avoid the water on the left and right sides of the fairway.

The course closed November 2014. 

In January 2015, the community homeowner association produced an indenture deed that limits use of the property to a golf course or country club. The current owner planned to build a housing development.

Since Heron Point Golf Club closed primarily because of a lack of business, the property has remained vacant as majority partner Roy Clyburn contemplates what to do with it.
