Montlake Golf Course is a mountain course was cut out of a wooded area. There are many large hills that can cause uneven lies. Trees come into play on most holes. There are water hazards that come into play on about half of the holes. The signature hole is #18, with a scenic view of the mountains and lake. On this hole, you tee off on raised granite ledges to a fairway strewn with granite boulders on the right.
This par 71 mountain course is nestled in the Tennessee mountains, a short drive from Chattanooga. For such a short course it's a definite challenge and for such a definite challenge it plays fair. As with many mountain courses it plays through rolling hills so it plays longer than the yardage book indicates. The fairways are tight so errant shots could make you pay with lost strokes. You'll play over water, boulders, and even stare off the edge of the mountain while stroking a putt or two. The scenery is picturesque at times the views are breathtaking.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 5,845 yards. From the forward tees, the course plays to 4,539 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 507 yards. The shortest hole at Montlake Golf Course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 85 yards from the back tees.

This course is a good mountain course. They were having some rain and mowing issues when I played so course could be better at times. Oct /November best time to go.
