Detailed description of Lost Pines Golf Course, CLOSED 2015

Lost Pines Golf Course is a Semi-Private 18 hole golf course located in the Bastrop State Park, Bastrop, Texas.

Lost Pines Golf Course first opened for play in 1973 with nine holes. The course was designed by Leon Howard. In 1997 the course was expanded to 18 holes. The new nine were designed by Craig Metz.

The course is located within Bastrop State Park. The scenery is awesome and walking the course a pleasure. Both trees and water can add to your score.

Bastrop State Park and the buildings on the course were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, a group formed under President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal in response to the Great Depression.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,172 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,029 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 557 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 115 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 16, a 387 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 3, the 115 yard par-3.

The course closed in 2015.

Lost Pines GOlf Club of Bastrop Texas is not only a fun course its a Historical one and the lil buildings were built by the ccc, peaceeful, basically get outdoors and play some golf. Have fun! Last few years its been so hot and in drought that the course has had a few problems thats expectable for DROUGHT conditions. IN the last year with thte recent rainfalls the golf course has taken off so much. I Love this course. THere Thursday nite scrambles are soo much fun.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again

Clubhouse is closed for renovation. Office is a construction trailer. No real practice facilities. Tee boxes are uneven and poorly maintained. Greens are of a good size, but have lots of weeds. Fairways have stones. I play this course once a year to remind me what a golf course is not supoosed to look like.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy

Very spread out course. Greens were very undulating and difficult. Balls in the rough would sit down and make it very hard to find. Beautiful course and surroundings, but very difficult course (especially in the 25 mph winds we played in). Would enjoy playing this course with less wind and when my game was fairly consistent.

Would travel: 60-120 Miles
Bottom line: I would play again
