Alsatian Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Castroville, Texas.
Alsatian first opened for play in 1995. This par 72 course was designed by Steve Mark.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,882 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,920 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 13, a par-5 that plays to 570 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 166 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 2, a 430-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 11, a 200 yard par-3.
Wind can be a major factor. The terrain on the front nine is flat and the fairways are lined with young trees. The back nine has large oak trees that can affect your shots and more mounding than the front nine. The greens are around 5,000 square feet in size, and they are firm. The signature hole is #13, the 570-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot from an elevated tee to a creek bottom, then an approach shot down a narrow fairway to an elevated green. Water hazards come into play on five holes

The past year they have built a beautiful new clubhouse and built a really nice practice facility with a second putting and chipping green and reworked the practice bunker.
They rerouted the course by eliminating hole #12 and added a very challenging short par 4 on the front side with the two level green positioned out in the lake with a narrow strip of land connecting the front to the fairway. Not quite an island green but it plays much like one. Degree of difficulty is high but good shots are rewarded. Good drive and good wedge = birdie. Poor wedge = double bogie or worse.
Overall the changes have transformed a nice, sleepy little course into one of the best in the San Antonio, Texas area. Much better than some of the $50-$75 courses around the area.
The beautiful Alsatian Inn is only 2 miles away with great restaurant and spa. Play a round and send the wife to Sea World with the kids about 10 miles from the Inn.

Bunkers still in need of repair from the past storm. Fairways in great shape. A couple of the greens, notably #2 has issues. We play almost weekly here and great value for the dollar plus the course is in good shape.
