Casa Blanca Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Laredo, Texas.
Casa Blanca Golf Course first opened for play in 1967. The par-72 course was designed by Leon Howard.
Casa Blanca Golf Course is considered a very average 18-hole course. Although a new clubhouse was added in 1996, the overall condition of the course is below average and locals complain the most about the greens. The front nine is a decent layout that can be challenging, the back nine doesn't seem to flow with the remainder of the design. Water comes into play on only three holes. The hardpan fairways allow your ball to roll well. Your best birdie opportunity is the 130-yard No. 8. And if you score well on the front, you'll be delighted to see the first two holes on the back, which are both par 5s under 500 yards from the back tees. The number one handicap is 524-yard No. 4 hole. This flat course is great for either beginners or golfers who like to walk
From the back tees. the course plays to 6,590 with a course rating of 72.5 and a slope rating of 125.
Back tees: 6,590 yards.
Middle tees: 6,267 yards
Forward tees: 5,631 yards
Beginning November 1, 2008, Texas- based Southern Golf Properties assumed management of all aspects of operations at Casa Blanca Golf Course. The term of Southern Golf Properties' contract to operate the course is for five years, with a three-year and then a two-year renewal.
Spokesmen acknowledge that in recent years Casa Blanca had fallen into disrepair. As a result, rounds - and the accompanying revenue those rounds created for the county and the community - have decreased substantially. "We are all excited about working with Southern Golf Properties and the changes and the improvements they have proposed for Casa Blanca Golf Course," said Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina, Webb County Commissioner for Precinct 2. "The management, operation and maintenance of Casa Blanca is a quality of life issue for the citizens of Webb County and - we believe - that having Southern Golf Properties at the course will improve that quality of life."
To aid in that direction, Webb County has pledged funds to Casa Blanca's revival and eventual renovation. Southern Golf Properties representatives have stated, "Our first order of business would be improving playing conditions for local golfers. We anticipate doing work on the hitting surfaces of the golf course - including the fairways - and improving the putting greens. We have a great team with Southern Golf and a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience. We feel very confident we can get things going here."
Southern Golf Properties currently manages five golf-course properties: The Club at ConCan in southwest Texas; The Flying L Guest Ranch in Bandera, Texas; Alsatian Golf Club in Castroville, Texas; the Utopia Golf Course in Utopia, Texas; and, most recently, Casa Blanca Golf Course in Laredo, Texas. The firm is in negotiations to manage a handful of other courses, including The Waterford Club in Marble Falls, Texas, The Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio and the not-yet-built Sun Chase Golf Club in Austin, Texas.

Casa Blanca is a work in progress because in years past, little had been done in the way of upkeep or improvements. Fortunately, there's a new sheriff in town and the course is slowly taking shape. Being in Laredo, you would expect to find an abundance of sandy/bare areas (and there are), however, much is being done to turn what is brown, green. But don't expect changes to happen over-night. The greens are rough but I expect them to come along with the rest of the course, if not sooner. All-in-all, it's a good course for the money and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I will continue to play this course and look forward to seeing the changes that are taking place there on every visit.
