The bermuda rough that starts immediately at the edge of the fairways will swallow your ball, and reveal it only if the course feels like it. This makes pace of play glacial, and is very frustrating when you've seen your ball hit the fairway. I'm astonished that the members put up with it. Perhaps they're all plus handicappers that never miss a fairway or green.

I think the best Nichlaus course I've played. The Palmer course was also very nice but Nicklaus @ 6400+ from the whites with a 138 rating and several holes on the water was the one to play. Actually on my home I stopped and played it again. I was reminded of the Ocean Course at Kiwah

Absolutely beautiful facility and courses. Golf pro (Joe Burbee) was friendly and helpful. Evaluation above is for the Nicklaus course but we played the Palmer (a little easier and not quite as well maintained) on the same trip and enjoyed it, too. Go on a weekday so you'll have a little extra time to find those balls that missed the fairway.

We, my wife and I, have played this course k numerous times since it opened. We prefer The Palmer over The Nicklaus course—but make no mistake Jack's course is great too. For most holes the Chesapeake Bay is part of the picture.

Nicklaus is as good as any I have played. I have played courses in Scotland as well as some of the best courses in the East and also out West. Palmer is a little less challenging but a very nice course. Stayed over a few days and enjoyed the easier Palmer course after a couple of days on Nicklaus. Great staff and was there early in the season and played 27 most days and played fast. As much of the course abuts the Chesapeake Bay the wind can howl like Scotland.
