Heron's Ridge, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Heron's Rifge first opened for play in 1999. The course was designed by Fred Couples and Gene Bates.
14 of the 18 Heron Ridge holes have lakes, water hazards or natural wetlands that come into play. The course winds around a unique setting of tall Oak, Beech & Elm Trees, Wetlands, Natural Depressions and uncommon Elevation changes, topography that is not typically found in the Virginia Beach/Tidewater area. All of these elements lead to a unique feel on each hole and provides a more memorable experience for those that take on the challenge.
Heron Ridge offers 5 sets of tees with yardage ranging from 5000 yards all the way up to 7000 yards. There is an appropriate tee to match all skill levels.

The course is in great shape except for greens. Golfers there apparently do not know how or will not repair their ball marks on the greens.
No beveridge cart after 3 pm on 88 degree day. Booooo. Other than that, would play any day.

Enjoyed the round immensley. Since I photograph at the same time I play it always makes the round interesting, but managed a birdie. The greens are bent grass so they are left long and somewhat slower than bermuda greens in the area. Putting with the grain was about a 9, but into the grain about a 6.5. I left a 5 footer short of the hole for birdie into the grain. Anyway the course is beautiful and will make you use your head off the tee as well as shots into the greens.
