Golf Courses in Decatur, Alabama

Decatur, Alabama is known as "The River City." Decatur is located in Northern Alabama on the banks of Wheeler Lake and the Tennessee River

This city of about 60,000 people enjoyed 5 golf courses as late as 2007. Since that time the number of Decatur golf courses has dwindled to two with the closing of 3 courses.

The May 2017 closure of Decatur Country Club leaves two golf courses in Decatur—the city-owned Point Mallard course and Burningtree Country Club.

Burningtree Country Club first opened for play in 1964. The course was designed by George Cobb.

Point Mallard Golf Course first opened for play in 1969. The course was designed by John LaFoy.
