Alexandria. Louisiana is located in the center of the state. The city lies on the south bank of the Red River. It is the ninth-largest city in the state. The city population is about 48,000.
In 2001, there were two private courses serving the community. They were Alexandria Golf & Country Club and Rapides Golf and Country Club. In 2002, two new courses—the city-owned Links on the Bayou and OakWing Golf Club—opened for play.
The new courses took members from the private clubs, Rapides Golf and Country Club, closed in 2004 after losing more than 80% of its members Alexandria Golf & Country Club closed in 2017.
The area still has three nine-hole courses, LSU of Alexandria, Timber Trails in Pineville and the par-3 Bringhurst Golf Course
