Scott had pulled the pin at Larry's request. Scott laid the pin on the green 20 yards away from the hole. Larry's putt with struck a bit too enthusiastically and would have hit the flagstick except for the fact that Scott sprinted to the flagstick and lifted it out of the way of the ball. And as usual, the debate began.
It was decided that since Larry knew the position of the flagstick, did not ask for it to be moved and proceeded with his putt, he accepted the stick placement as it was. However, Scott changed the outcome of the putt when he changed the conditions on the green (moved the flagstick) while the putt was in motion. Accordingly, Scott incurs a two-stroke penalty.
