Larry the rules czar puts on a big show when putting. If he were younger, he would do the spider man thing on the green. He takes off his glove, one finger at a time in a deliberate and artful show. He does a 360 of the hole. He throws clippings in the air. You know the drill. I think he particularly likes leaves on the green. He attacks them like a swash buckler knocking them off his line of putt with great flurries of his hat.
Scott joined us one day last fall. Scott used about 15 swipes of the palm of his hand in an attempt to remove the leaves in his line of putt. Larry, the swash bucking leaf attacker said, sorry Tom, that's going to cost you some strokes. Come to think of it, maybe that's why I like Larry. We seem to always be able to play as a twosome without others asking to join us.
What is the correct penalty, if any?
