Day 17 - 100 days, 100 courses (Saturday, March 30, 2019)
Quintero is another one of those golf courses that is seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. 20 minutes off of the highway and the nearest stoplight, magically it appears. A gentleman meets you at the gate to check you in and the first thing that he says is intimidating to every golfer, “I hope you have a lot of balls.” I hear more of that in the pro shop. It’s not going to be a good day.
One of the nice things about golf is that you can adjust the game to the skill level of the players and still have fun. So when Dave declared that he had only played 3 times this century we moved up our tees and played best ball. That helped but we started to get worried as we lost more and more balls. Luckily number 4 goes right by the parking lot so I could get two extra dozen.
The course was frustratingly slow. So upon the advice of the marshall, when we got to the turn we played the front 9 a second time. We were late in the day so we saw no one and just cruised through the back 9. Had a great time and it was great to catch up with an old friend.
