Pace of play is slowwwww.
Conditioning of the course is pathetic (worse than poor). Spring flooding has resulted in MUD in many fairways and many roped off areas, even months after heavy rainfall. What does that tell you? Drainage here is a problem.
Tee boxes are shaggy. Fairways, when not dodging roped off "ground under repair" areas are like the rough in almost all other courses. The rough is like the US Open...looks like it has not been mowed in weeks.
No first cut from the fairway to the rough...it is just fairway, then rough. No real fringe around the greens, and certainly no second cut.
All in all it is a shame. Nice layout that will challenge most. But the condition of the course ruins it.
Nothing is done to correct the conditioning problems of this course. Instead, the Park District/golf course manager insists on spending money on useless amenities that do nothing to improve the actual golf course. New marble/granite slabs denote the hole layout and yardage. Rubble rock added to a creek area. Useless brick pavers added for benches, but the benches are not even placed on the pavers. A ridiculous waste of money. Put the money into improving the play of the course, not into useless "eye candy".
The course manager/resident pro, greenskeeper or the Buffalo Grove Park District board has really dropped the ball as this course continues to get worse and worse. I would recommend that either the Park District sell this course and get managers that actually know how to run a golf course...or hire a course management company that actually knows how to condition and manicure a golf course.
Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby, Worse than average course for the area
