The course is now open to the public. The layout is front nine away from the club house, back nine return to the club house. A view of the Mississippi river is available on some of the holes. The course is flat with some unusual features. Military and civilians work at the arsenal on the island, and they have a walking path next to the first fairway that cuts across the fairway 2/3 of the way to the green. The had a 90 degree rule in effect when we played, but the paved paths are also roads. To play a true 90 degree rule you have to dodge cars, bicycles, trucks, etc. The "path" crossed over several roads, and the 18th fairway went over a driveway to one of the few houses near the course. The back nine has road noise since some fairways are along a main road. The clubhouse is old, and the pool area is well worn and not open any longer. We thought about eating there, but discovered the dining room was full of soldiers in their fatigues. All in all the course is a good place for players looking to shoot a simple relaxing round of golf.

Would travel: 0-10 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again
